As of May 22, 2000, the laboratory was under new leadership. It will
provide all of the established services: Fecal Culture, Serum ELISA,
AGID, Mycobactin and various standard positive and negative serums.
In addition it plans to increase development activities to provide
some exciting new features including:
1. Bulk Tank Milk ELISA, a monitoring tool for the
detecting new cases of Johne's introduced into lactating herd.
2. The unique application of Mycobactin to enhance
(not simply enable) the isolation and growth of mycobacteria -
other than M. paratuberculosis.
3. The incorporation of mycobactin in culture media
to enable laboratorians to isolate mycobactin dependent M. avium
from AIDS Patients. Our top priorities will be the continuity of our
basic services and products, followed by the acceleration of our
development project: a Therapeutic Agent for the prevention of Johne's
Disease in young ruminants.
